Las Vegas SUN: DOE picks rail option, Caliente corridor to Nevada nuke dump
This article from last April goes on about how the feds picked a rail route that is nonexistent to transport nuclear waste to our new nuclear waste dump in Nevada at Yucca Mountain. I wonder how we’re going to get the waste coast waste to Caliente Nevada, along the Utah border.
Course, there are no good answers, but lots of ideas that will all offend somebody. Personally, I like the idea of recycling the waste and reusing it, but last time I checked, it was illegal in this country, because it can allow for reprocessing into weapons grade material.
Anyway we cut it, it will still be at least 5 years before any rail rail is built.
