Dee Plane Boss, Dee Plane!

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

Airbus landed their new A380 at LAX yesterday, with gray cloudy skies and almost no passengers, about 15 minutes after a full plane landed in New York.
I was able to take a few minutes off of work, and stand on the roof, trying to shoot some photos
First, here’s a United 747 for comparison

Then the Airbus [...]

my laptop is back!

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Woohoo! Nice package from Apple via DHL, and my Macbook Pro is back! So far so good. It hasn’t shut down on me yet.
Not the biggest news of the world, but I’m glad to have it back!

A new way to deal with snow!

Sunday, February 11th, 2007

There comes a time when you realize the future is upon us. Now, with the Japanese inventing a robot that eats snow.
I don’t think it’ll work to well on a mountain road, but at least it’s cool looking. An autonomous, snow eating, ice cube making machine. What’s not to like?

Macbook issues

Thursday, February 8th, 2007

For the past few weeks, my Core 2 Duo Macbook, (October revision), has been turning off on it’s own. At a time of it’s choosing, with no warning. Very inconsiderate.
I’m in the Apple store right now, waiting to see someone. They will probably keep my laptop for a week or so. The very small [...]

And I thought I had it rough on the swim team….

Monday, February 5th, 2007

High school doesn’t bring back many fond memories, at least if you believe TV sitcoms. But for a few students in Australia, their swimming class had a whole different set of problems.
Which raises a question. Is there anything in Australia that won’t try to kill you at some point?

Costly L.A. River plan contains a raft of new ideas - Los Angeles Times

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

There is another new plan to “revitalize” the Los Angeles River. Costly L.A. River plan contains a raft of new ideas - Los Angeles Times. This might be a nice idea further north, through the San Fernando Valley to about Dodger Stadium, but south of there, where the soil turns into alluvium, it’s a ridiculously [...]

Sea Launch Explosion

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

Sea Launch has been an interesting idea, to load a rocket on a ship, move near the equator ( to help in launching), and send satellites up into space. Unfortunately, on January 30th, there was a “anomaly” as they were launch a rocket.

No-Contact Jacket

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Someone had to go and do it. Straight out of a movie or a comic book, it’s the No-Contact Jacket. Designed to provide 80,000 volts straight to an attacker, the jacket is designed as a protective measure for women. Feel insecure, or just want some bus space? Zap the guy brushing up against you, and [...]

Woman’s crusade against bar spawns free speech case - Los Angeles Times

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Oh goody, another crazy Woman’s crusade against bar spawns free speech case - Los Angeles Times. I’ve walked passed the Village Inn, the bar in question, many times, and never noticed anything going on like that. Can’t say that I’ve ever been inside though, it just didn’t seem like my kind of place.
Still, it’s always [...]

The end of the world: Snowplows in Malibu?

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

So in addition to the cold weather we’ve been having, a quick rainstorm hit the LA basin. Only, it wasn’t just rain:with snow levels below 1000 feet. If it had been a Saturday, I might of gone up there to take some pictures.
We had a Scout campout scheduled for this weekend to Malibu Creek State [...]
