In addition to recently upgrading to WordPress 2.3, I installed a new plugin called iWPhone. Hopefully, this will make reading this blog easier for people with iPhones. Now if only I had something people with iPhones wanted to read!

I’ve upgraded to WordPress Â 2.3, beta 3. Hopefully everything still works fine.Â Biggest change you might notice is the tags field off on the right of the page. These are self inflicted by me, and the goal would be to reduce the Â number of categories listed, and move some of those over into the tag cloud.Â At some point, WordPress might allow other people to tag via the comment field. Might be interesting to see how that turns out, aside from being one more area for spam to fall into.Â

New Moderator!

While I’m gone on vacation, Naeem has been good enough to take over moderation duties. While I’m planning, but haven’t yet done, a blog posting for each day I’m gone, I’m not expecting many comments.

Spam has been minimal to nill since I installed that math question during the commenting period.

Still, treat Naeem right, and place nice, ok?

So I discovered one of my legacy web statistics counters started adding in pop up ads. So I’m removing Nedstat, turned into webstat4u from my site. They were only on my static web pages, and I probably won’t finish until I return from the Grand Canyon.

Still, an annoying thing to look at.

I just installed the 2.0.2 update to WordPress, and I’ve installed “Did you pass math?” which is supposed to help block spam.

Basically, it’s supposed to ask a simple math question, on the assumption that spam bots will fail the test.

Curses. From this morning till now, 88 spam comments trapped in moderation. None got through to the regular posting, but it was quite a bit more than I’m used to for a day.

[update] curses, more spam! 25 more messages between 3:22 and 5:09 pm *grumble* Maybe I should turn off comments, or only let registered users make comments? While everything has been trapped in moderation, it’s getting annoying.

A few days ago, my blog software WordPress, was upgraded to version 2.0, from 1.5. I’m now going to install that. Please let me know if you see any problems. When I’m done, I’ll post an update here.

I’ve been a little disappointed in my photograph presentation over the past few years. I’m going to slowly transition over to a php based system.

Check out this and let me know what you think. I can easily batch move my existing files on my server over, and it will create thumbnails for me.

Advantages right now: Anyone can rate (1 to 5) each individual photo, and registered users can leave comments. Give it a try!
