Brother, can you spare some sepia?

Monday, September 29th, 2008

With the market going down today, and everyone afraid of a new depression (which for the record, I am not), my flippant response is to ask: “will the world turn into sepia, and will people start wearing funny hats again?”

The question has been asked before.

Supporting the Arts

Monday, September 29th, 2008

My Annoying Cousin went to Italy this past summer, and all we got was to see her art work displayed at Cal State Long Beach. She has another hanging for year in the dean’s office, but I have yet to see it.

Just when you think baseball can’t get stranger…

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Baseball gets weirder. In a week of upsets, and the Dodgers clinching the NL West on a loss, there is now a weird replay call in San Francisco. A single is reviewed into a homerun, but while the hitter was on first, he was given a pinch runner. After review (!) it was declared a [...]

USC vs Oregon State

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Ok, I turn the SC at Oregon State game at the half, and USC is down 21 to zip! Lots of ground to make up here…..

I think I’ll turn back to the Dodger game now, who are down 2-0 to San Diego, but the Dodgers clinched the NL West today with the loss by Arizona. [...]

You know when you schedule an inspection for a Friday, and the guy shows up on Thursday, you’re going to have issues. I was nervous and mostly unprepared all the way through, but I think he just wanted to sign everything off and go get his morning coffee.

But hey, he’s gone, things are accepted. According [...]

Catalina Camping

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Last weekend we took 15 Boy Scouts camping at Catalina. In a surprise twist, I didn’t take many photos at all! However, there is some video of a water skiing attempt, which I’ll publish tomorrow.

Dodgers in the Post Season?

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

With the loss of Arizona tonight, the Dodger’s magic number is 2. If they win tonight, it’s a 1.

I just don’t see the Dodgers going far in the post season though. While they have a good pitching staff, they haven’t performed well against teams outside of the NL West.

So I’m not going to get my [...]

Hurricane watch

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Hurricane Ike is obviously a big nasty storm, but I can’t help but laugh at Geraldo Rivera on Fox News Channel….
Maybe he’ll be swept away in the storm…..

Climbing a Waterfall

Monday, September 1st, 2008

There are many things to do at Lake Mead, including climbing some water falls. Lots of familiar people in this one:
