125 years ago, the City of Los Angeles completed a great aqueduct. The LA Times remembers with 1913: Torrent of silver water arrives from Owens Valley

With out this aqueduct that drained that siphoned Sierra Nevada snowfall, the LA would have had a hard time providing water for 100,000 people, let alone the 4 million that live there now.
