New Readings

Monday, July 31st, 2006

Last night I finished off my second new book in 3 days. Friday night I stopped off at the Long Beach Barnes and Noble, and I bought The Grapple by Turttledove, continuing his alternate history of “What if the South won the Civil War?”, and Book 2 of the Axis of Time trilogy, Designated Targets. [...]

Early mornings, long drives

Monday, July 31st, 2006

Yesterday, I drove up to Cambria to look at my grandmother’s house, and check on a few things. I might need to replace a step or two this summer, but nothing out of the ordinary. Nice easy drive, with lots of costal clouds.
Just got a call from the boat, they’re a go for tomorrow, which [...]

Mechanical difficulties….

Friday, July 28th, 2006

Rough day so far. 3 big mechanical difficulties by 7:07 this morning. One on my truck (I think it’s the solenoid), one on a piece of equipment, and then the big one on the boat, where we had to cancel a trip, and I’m trying to make sure tonight’s trip isn’t canceled.
Not fun so far….

So how was Jury Duty?

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

How was my fun day of Jury Duty, you ask? Well, let me run down the list. Stay with me to the end, it’ll get good.
1. Show up at 7:15, 30 minutes early. Already, there are 5 people in line ahead of me. I go through the metal detector, no problems, and head up to [...]

Help a friend out

Monday, July 24th, 2006

My friend Exirabit needs some help with a quiz she’s written for her grad work. It’s specifically aimed at kids in certain circumstances, but she’s looking for beta testers to try it out.
So check it out, and help a friend out!

Jury Duty!

Monday, July 24th, 2006

It’s finally happened. I report for Jury Duty tomorrow, at 7:30 am in Compton.
Fun Fun Fun!
Government paid for air conditioning! I hope they have the thermostat under 78, maybe all the way to 72 degrees.
I’m still looking for ideas on books to read…. short notice I know, but give me an idea or two!

Jury Duty

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

Well, back in June I got a Jury Duty summons. I was originally supposed to serve during my aborted Grand Canyon Raft Trip, during the second week. I got it moved before the raft trip of course. I just called in, and I don’t have to show tomorrow, but I do need to call in [...]

Wacky weather fun

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

As many of you know, it’s been hot lately. So what better idea, than taking a speed boat out on the water for a few hours? We put 60 gallons of gas in the boat, put in at Long Beach, then set out for Palos Verde. We continue on, a total of 35 miles to [...]

Kettle Korn

Friday, July 21st, 2006

This stuff will be the death of me probably… far too tasty.
On the other hand, it’s good to have while refreshing Pappa Bradstein’s page as he blogs about the birth of Baby Boy Bradstein (3B)
