I just installed the 2.0.2 update to WordPress, and I’ve installed “Did you pass math?” which is supposed to help block spam.
Basically, it’s supposed to ask a simple math question, on the assumption that spam bots will fail the test.

test test
testing again
testing a third time… previous annon test got caught in moderation (good thing), now let’s see if it will let me post anon after one successful comment
apparently, you do have to pass math to be able to comment now… Good!
My math degree put to good use!
Yea! I can add!
And on the very up side, no spam this morning for me to moderate!
Woohoo!
hey! I know math too!
But i became an art major to avoid math!
Just be glad I didn’t put a trig problem, or a calc problem… at least these all entail real numbers.
How about y= Integral (x^2+3x)dx from X=4 to x=6
Give me the number answer to that in your next comment….
242/3. 🙂
Have you heard of anyone updating this plugin to include other operations (subtraction and multiplication, for instance… not necessarily integration)?
Dave,
No I haven’t. I’ve only had one known instance of spam getting past this, and it was a pretty obvious to the eye instance. What I think it was, though I haven’t confirmed it, was the question being “0+0 =”, and if the form was left blank, the plugin assumed 0. That’s a guess on my part, not fact, but I’m pretty happy with the plugin as is.
