Bill De Witt’s Photos – New Year’s Day Sun Rise

Yesterday morning, New Year’s Day, I got up early and drove out to Whitemore Divide, about 10 miles east of Mammoth Mountain, to see the sun rise on to the Sierra’s.

It was clear when I woke up at 5:30, and while it got cloudy as I drove out there, some of these turned out very well. Enjoy the photos!

Holy crap, I thought I was the only freak that got up early that morning to watch the sun rise. Not to one up you or anything… but I got to see it before anybody else on U.S. soil. Mars Hill is where it’s seen first. It stopped snowing for only a couple hours, so Canada was looking mighty pretty that morning. Were you as hung over as I was?

  2. Bill says:

Heh. You got me. First sunrise of the New Year in the US? Pretty cool. Nope, not hung over. Me, hung over? You must be remembering the wrong Bill…
