Week update!

I’m going to try to make this end of week update not be too weak….

Last Saturday, I went to the Dodger game with Naeem, Ben, Sandro, Caltech Girl, Grand Moff Trojan, and an assortment of other goons. The Dodgers won that day! Later, Ben, Sandro and I went to the Galaxy game where they also won. A good day for LA sports.

Today, Ed and I took the Say When down to the Queen Mary Launching Ramp, and took her out. A much better trip than a few months ago.

Picture time!

The Queen Mary dwarfs the Say When. But we can go faster

Ed is adjusting a bumper on the port side, so I’m reaching over to control the steering.

Maybe the next boat should be called “Cry Uncle”

What! No credit for a fabulous barbque last Sunday.

    Oh, it was good.

As was the popcorn dinner and straight spaghetti noodles on Tuesday with Pam and Katie. I never knew it was red wine that went with popcorn.

The mess of gas lines is a nice touch… :)

Good reasons for that. We’re breaking in the new starboard engine, and the instructions are to run it on premixed 2 cycle gasoline for a few hours, before relying on the internal oil injection.

The other fortunate thing about that was, we knew how much gasoline we used. 19.5 miles on 6 gallons, when it ran out. That was for one engine only, but also involved lots of start/stop, fast/slow/fast/slow manuevers. One of the key things in breaking an engine in is constantly adjusting the throttle, to vary the engine speed.

We will probably need one more break in trip for a few hours before we are really happy with the situation. Other things to do: secure the battery boxes, install battery switches (so either battery can be used with either engine, independantly or together), replace one (out of three) bilge pump.

    But we are getting there.
