Another Peril for Climbers - Los Angeles Times

Listen… if you are going to do anything in life, accidents do happen. The risker the event, the more likely the chance for them to occur.

Often, it’s the fact that things can go wrong that attract us to those activities. It’s the thrill, the rush. One of my issues with shows like Survivor, or Disneyland, is that it is too safe, that things can’t really go wrong. It’s nice to fool yourself, and get a little thrill, but it is not the same. Of course, if it was, we couldn’t mass market it.

Bah. If you know the risks, and continue doing it, you take your chances. And I want to see you take your chances with a smile on your face!

    I’m with you Bill.
He climbed the rock, he knew what he was getting into. Plus, that picture shows him smoking a cigarette, this supports that he was willing to risk his life for pleasure…maybe this is what he wanted?
And another thing, where do they get $10MM from? I doubt that he would have made that much in his life working for the Navy.
