Grounded: Millionaire John Gilmore stays close to home while making a point about privacy
This one is about a man who asked to see the law requiring him to show ID to get on an airplane. The government has said no, you can’t see the law. It’s a planned law suit, and he started it on purpose of course. I really hate the idea of internal passports, and don’t think I should have to carry ID to travel. Now, to drive a car, yes, since that is a privilege and not a right. I’d just like to pay my fare and go.
What are your thoughts? Should you have to show ID to get on an airplane?

John Gilmore is also the name of a psychiatrist at UNC. Who, coincidentally, looks like John Edwards… Go figure.
I think you should have to show an ID, but there’s no reason to be so nazi about it. When I traveled for the first time under my married name, I had to bring an official seal stamped copy of marriage license along for proof that I was who I say I am even though my tickets contained my maiden name as part of the name on the ticket. It’s the same thing now since I can cash a check or use my credit cards with my expired military ID, but I can’t fly with it. Go fig.
