Amargosa River flooding pictures
Last weekend, I drove up to our property in Nevada. We have a few acres 90 miles west of Las Vegas, bordering on Death Valley National Park. Rains like we’ve had lately do not come by often, so I took my camera to take full advantage of the situation!

This turned out better than I thought it would. |

| South of Shoshone, CA, the Amargosa River leaves the road, and goes through the hills. It exits at Dumont Dunes. |
A few years ago, I hiked that section from the China Date Ranch (fruits you know!) down to here. |

Give it two more weeks, and there will be lots of wild flowers ehre |

I never get over seeing a full-blow river (the Mojave River) in the desert. I live a block from Alameda Creek (creek is too modest a term), and it’s rushing quite nicely. I really should spend the time and money to get that digital camera.

My dad was up that way again today. Apparently, the Amargosa was flowing over the road in places. So take those pictures with the pipes under the highway, and raise the water level a foot or two above that highway.
So what can I say. Pave the rivers. Curve the Wilderness!
