Animal Man
I’m almost done reading the entire comic book series Animal Man. It was written by Grant Morrison back in the early 90s, before he really hit it big with JLA. Simply put, Buddy Buckly can take on the powers or abilities of any animal. yes, it sounds lame. But the writing is just great. Morrison breaks the so called “fourth wall” in which the characters begin to recognize they are just characters in a story. Now that his (oh dammit, I shouldn’t spoil it for the 1% of my readers who might actually read this story!).,….well, something very tragic happens to Buddy, and he snaps. He already knows why it happens to him “cause we’re just characters in a badly written story”
He claims that God (in this case, being Morrison himself!) is writing this tragic screwed up story, because where he comes form, our day to day life, is even worse.
So…. have any of you out there ever seen beyond our fourth wall?
