Christmas in Mammoth
Ed and I got up to Mammoth early yesterday afternoon. The weather is a pleasant 50 degrees outside, sunny, but it is supposed to snow tomorrow.
We had dinner last night at a place called Bergers. Hard to go wrong with a half pound of buffalo meat, bacon and fries. Not even any lines either. A nice change of place for that restaurant. Course, after half an hour it was jam packed solid.
It is supposed to snow tomorrow, and that’s when I should leave to go back to work. Before I hired on at RSI, I told them I wanted to take the week off between Christmas and New Years. Since I’m too new, that means as unpaid leave. But you know…. I’d basically be the only one up here. So I think I’ll go back, and work. That means less than 2 full weeks vacation this year(though Carpenter did pay me out on my remaining week I had with them). I’ll see if I can take off early on the 30th, and drive up to Mammoth again. All depends on what plans to do for New Years. If I’m up in Mammoth, the Savages always have a good bash, though it’s often done by 9pm. Neighs will be in Tahoe by then, I could drive up and say hello. Or just stay down in the LA ara. Ben will be down, as will a few others.
I’ll post my thoughts on year end review, and the upcoming year later on this week.
I finished Neil Stephenson’s first book “The Big U” about college dorm life gone totally berserk today. Fun quick read. I’ll reread it next week I think. Just to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Though, those of you who have read “Cryptonomicon”. A central computer in “The Big U” shares the same name as a nasty underworld demon in “Cryptonomicon”. I had to go back and check, but there are no other connections I see yet..
