Car Stereos

I’ve been looking at replacing the stock AM/FM radio in my truck since the day I bought it. My main consideration is to allow my iPod to play clearly into the 4 built in speakers. Currently, I do this with a Belkin FM broadcast unit, but it has the disadvantage of being interrupted by fully licensed stations as you drive by. I used to use a cassette adapter when I drove the Crown Vic.

I can use these methods, or I can use an AUX adapter, with a 1/8th inch connector. My preferred solution, although expensive, lies with Alpin. By using a combination of CDA-9827 and kca-420i. This combo is about 360 list price, but would allow the iPod to be directly controlled from the dash head unit. Supposedly, the complete iPod screen and controls are available from the dash.

Biggest downside right now? My 2nd generation iPod is too old, I would have to get one that has a dock connector iPod. Well, I was looking to get a new Photo iPod anyway….
