Catalina Trip Part Deux
Dave McWilliams, Young Tung and myself went to Catalina today. We tried to launch out of the Queen Mary ramp, but it was full. So we drove around to Cabrillo launch, which had plenty of room. We then took an hour to go to the Isthmus, then out to the north end of the island. We then meandered down to Avalon, and then back to LA harbor. We saw blue whales (I think) while coming back, and then cruised around LA and Long Beach Harbors for a while. Got a bit tanned, though not burned. So where were you, and why didn’t you come?

And there’s me.
I’ve been told I don’t smile enough in photos…. Looks to me as if I’m really straining here.
Young getting ready to go skin diving.
Some guys here on a sail boat.
Young again.

Not too big a craft.

There, trying to smile!
A whale we saw… shame the white balancing was off at the moment.
I think these were blue whales… a first for me to see.
This dorsal fin makes me think these are blue whales…
A real shame the railing of the boat was blocking this shot…
Damn you cursed railing!
Just barely missed the railing this time.
Another blue whale dorsal fin shot

Sea Lion
More sea lions
I’m jus tgoing to lay there all day long…..
The Sea Launch in Long Beach. They use this to launch communications satallites into orbit.
if the rail hadn’t gotten in the way, this would of been a great shot of the Queen mary and a sail boat.

It’s like this: I don’t get seasick, but I also don’t swim and don’t think very much of girls who spend their weekends lying around in bikinis (they’re all clones without brains, I tell ya). Thus, I am highly unfit for your Catalina journeys.

Well, I’ve never had any on my boats, that’s for sure. At least ones who sun bathe like that for hours. I’ve had girls out for sailing before, but not sun bathing, and certainly not at Catalina.
Still they’re not all clones. That one had blonde hair, that one had red hair, that one was short, that one was tall…. And the odds are, all are rich, or just very well connected. Think of how much one of those boats cost, and just the up keep each month….

Ahh! Jealousy at your fun time! I was moving boxes and spending hours figuring out why internet wasn’t working at the new house (improperly wired RJ-45 it turned out). I need to see SeaLaunch…

Yes, SeaLaunch was good. But they yelled at us. Apparently they don’t like people in public waterways stopping to look at them. Very impolite I think. After all, it should be a tourist attraction to make them more money!
